excellence amongst artists and to provide encouragement to
groups and individuals in the community involved in the arts.

Winter 2009
Council President Sandra MacDonald attended 'Tourism Tomorrow' in
February as a
member of the Working Group for The Place Near and Far Gallery &
Workshop in Kennetcook and as current President of both the HCAC and the East Hants Fine Arts Association.
The Symposium was co-sponsored by the
EH Office of Economic
Development, the
Hants
Regional Development Authority and the
East Hants Chamber
of Commerce. The full day workshop was hosted by local tourism industry operator,
the
Tidal Bore
Rafting Park & Cottages in Urbania on Highway 215.
A busy day of networking and brainstorming focused on the strengths and
challenges East Hants has in building a vibrant tourism industry. Many
ideas and proposals were examined and emphasis was placed on planning for
cooperation across the affected communities and businesses.
